Shanahan McDougal, PLLC, has extensive experience representing local, regional and institutions in commercial real estate transactions across North Carolina and the southeastern United States. Our real estate team represents developers in planning, entity formation, acquisition, leasing and financing.

We have represented buyers and sellers of real estate ranging from owners of farm tracts for raw land development to shopping center and office park developers. Additionally, we represent banks and other financial institutions in a broad range of secured and unsecured commercial and corporate lending transactions, including Small Business Administration loans. We also represent creditors in loan workout and foreclosures.

Our real estate practice encompasses all types of projects, including retail, office warehouse, hotel, mixed-use, and manufacturing developments. Our attorneys' experience includes serving as  in-house counsel with a regional retail developer as well as representing both developers and lenders in complex real estate financing transactions.

Shanahan McDougal has substantial experience representing community and mid-size banks and their holding companies. Shanahan McDougal serves as outside General Counsel for a number of client institutions, including credit unions, where we manage a wide variety of legal matters, such as, audits, regulatory examinations, and other industry-specific matters. We also provide strategy and advice on an as-needed basis for executives and bank boards. Our team of experienced litigators routinely represents banks and their holding companies in many different matters, including claims for unfair and deceptive trade practices, breach of fiduciary duty, lender liability, loan servicing, breach of contract, loan origination, and predatory lending.

Our banking clients benefit from the diverse experience of Shanahan McDougal’s other practice areas, allowing us to assist financial institutions across a broad spectrum of legal matters.
